रायपुर (जनसम्पर्क विभाग)। मैंने देखा है कि सोनकर समाज का बसेरा शहरों के किनारे के गांवों में होता है। रायपुर की बात करें तो सुंदर नगर से लाखे नगर तक बहुत से खेत थे, जिसमें सोनकर समाज के लोगों ने बाड़ी लगाई थी। शहर का विस्तार होना था, तो यह तो होना ही था कि इनके मालिक जमीनों को बेच देते। बात यह है कि इन पैसों का किस तरह इस्तेमाल किया जाए। यह खुशी की बात है कि सोनकर समाज ने इसे शिक्षा में निवेश किया। जिस जगह बाड़ी थी, उस जगह इमारतें भी हैं और समाज का स्कूल भी है। 
मुख्यमंत्री भूपेश बघेल ने आज कुम्हारी में आयोजित सोनकर समाज के युवक-युवती परिचय सम्मेलन में सोनकर समाज द्वारा शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में किये गये कार्यों की प्रशंसा करते हुए यह बात कही। उन्होंने कहा कि सोनकर समाज के लोगों ने 14 स्कूल बनवाये, शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में इतनी रुचि बताती है कि समाज प्रगतिशील है और प्रगति में शिक्षा के मूल्य को समझता है। मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि शिक्षा संपत्ति का असल उपयोग सिखाती है। शिक्षित व्यक्ति ही उसे सकारात्मक दिशा में खर्च कर सकता है और भविष्य को भी मजबूत कर सकता है। मुख्यमंत्री ने इस अवसर पर स्वर्गीय बिन्नी बाई सोनकर के योगदान को भी याद किया। उन्होंने कहा कि रायपुर की नगर माता बिन्नी बाई ने समाज के कल्याण के लिए अपनी जीवन भर की पूंजी अर्पित की। यह दानशीलता की बड़ी मिसाल है। 
उन्होंने अपने पूरे जीवन भर की कमाई एक साथ जनहित के लिए अर्पित कर दी। आप लोग सौभाग्यशाली हैं कि आपके समाज ने ऐसी विभूतियां दी हैं। मुख्यमंत्री ने इस अवसर पर सोनकर समाज की दानशीलता की प्रशंसा की। उन्होंने कहा कि आप लोग मूलतः कृषि से जुड़े हुए समुदाय के लोग हैं। इस वक्त हमारा सबसे बड़ा दायित्व पैरादान को प्रोत्साहित करने का है। आप लोग सभी जानते हैं कि पराली जलाने से प्रदूषण फैलता है। दिल्ली में कोरोना काल में आक्सीजन की जरूरत काफी पड़ी क्योंकि प्रदूषण की वजह से अधिकांश लोगों के फेफड़े कमजोर पड़ गये थे। मैं अभी दिल्ली गया था वहां देखा कि प्रदूषण और कोहरे की वजह से पास की चीजें भी देखनी कठिन थीं। हमें अपनी हवा को बचाना है, मिट्टी को बचाना है। पराली जलाने पर मिट्टी के पोषक तत्व भी नष्ट हो जाते हैं। आप सभी पैरादान कीजिए। कुम्हारी में समाज के भवन के लिए मुख्यमंत्री ने २३ लाख रुपए की घोषणा भी की। इस मौके पर समाज के अध्यक्ष शारदा प्रसाद सोनकर, कुम्हारी नगर पालिका अध्यक्ष राजेश्वर सोनकर एवं समाज के अनेक पदाधिकारी मौजूद थे।
