चंडीगढ़। पंजाब के मुख्यमंत्री चरणजीत सिंह चन्नी के भाई मनोहर सिंह ने रविवार को कहा कि सत्तारूढ़ पार्टी द्वारा अपने मौजूदा विधायक को मैदान में उतारने के बाद वह अब इस निर्वाचन क्षेत्र से निर्दलीय के रूप में चुनाव लड़ेंगे। सिंह बस्सी पठाना विधानसभा सीट से कांग्रेस के टिकट पर नजर गड़ाए हुए थे। कांग्रेस ने 86 उम्मीदवारों की अपनी पहली सूची में शनिवार को बस्सी पठाना (सुरक्षित) सीट से पार्टी विधायक गुरप्रीत सिंह जीपी को टिकट दिया। मनोहर सिंह ने गुरप्रीत सिंह जीपी को टिकट देने संबंधी कांग्रेस के फैसले को निर्वाचन क्षेत्र के लोगों के साथ च्च्अन्यायज्ज् करार दिया और आरोप लगाया कि मौजूदा विधायक च्च्अक्षम और अप्रभावीज्ज् है। मनोहर सिंह ने कहा, बस्सी पठाना क्षेत्र के कई प्रमुख लोगों ने मुझे निर्दलीय के रूप में लड़ने के लिए कहा है और उन्होंने जो कहा है, मैं उसका पालन करूंगा। वापस जाने का कोई सवाल ही नहीं है और मैं निश्चित रूप से चुनाव लड़ूंगा। सिंह ने पिछले साल अगस्त में खरड़ सिविल अस्पताल से वरिष्ठ चिकित्सा अधिकारी के पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया था। सिंह ने एमबीबीएस और एमडी किया है। उनके पास पत्रकारिता में स्नातकोत्तर डिग्री भी है और उन्होंने कानून की पढ़ाई भी की है। उन्होंने कहा कि उन्होंने कई पार्षदों, गांव के सरपंच और पंच से मिलने के बाद निर्दलीय के रूप में चुनाव लड़ने का फैसला किया। उन्होंने कहा, लोगों ने मुझसे कहा कि उन्हें (गुरप्रीत सिंह जीपी) टिकट देना गलत है। उन्होंने पहले कुछ नहीं किया था और अब उन्हें फिर से थोप दिया गया है।
सिंह ने कहा कि वह अपने भाई चन्नी से बात करेंगे और उन्हें अपने फैसले के बारे में समझाएंगे। पिछले साल कांग्रेस की पंजाब इकाई के प्रमुख नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू ने बस्सी पठाना निर्वाचन क्षेत्र में गुरप्रीत सिंह जीपी के चुनाव कार्यालय का उद्घाटन किया था। पंजाब विधानसभा की ११७ सीटों के लिए १४ फरवरी को मतदान होगा और मतगणना १० मार्च को होगी।
