बेंगलुरु: कर्नाटक बीजेपी विधायक दल ने मंगलवार को बसवराज बोम्मई को अपना नया नेता चुन लिया और वह सूबे के नए मुख्यमंत्री होंगे। बोम्मई निवर्तमान मुख्यमंत्री बी एस येदियुरपप्पा की जगह लेंगे। विधायक दल की बैठक में बीएस येदियुरप्पा, केंद्रीय पर्यवेक्षक धर्मेंद्र प्रधान और किशन रेड्डी भी शामिल थे। ६१ वर्षीय बोम्मई येदियुरप्पा के नेतृत्व वाली सरकार में गृह, कानून, संसदीय एवं विधायी कार्य मंत्रालय की जिम्मेदारी संभाल रहे थे। गौरतलब है कि बैठक से पहले लिंगायत नेता और कर्नाटक सरकार में गृह मंत्री का पद संभाल रहे बसवराज बोम्मई ने धर्मेंद्र प्रधान और किशन रेड्डी से मुलाकात की थी।
कर्नाटक के अगले मुख्यमंत्री के तौर पर चुने जाने के बाद बोम्मई ने कहा, ‘इस समय यह एक बड़ी जिम्मेदारी है। मैं गरीबों के कल्याण के लिए काम करने का प्रयास करूंगा। यह सरकार जन हितैषी और गरीबों की समर्थक होगी।’ बसवराज बोम्मई ने जनता दल से राजनीति की शुरुआत की थी और २००८ में बीजेपी में शामिल हुए थे। लिंगायत समुदाय से आने वाले बोम्मई को येदियुरप्पा का करीबी माना जाता है। बोम्मई के पिता सोमप्पा रायप्पा बोम्मई भी कर्नाटक के मुख्यमंत्री रह चुके हैं।
बोम्मई ने मंगलवार को कहा कि राज्यपाल थावरचंद गहलोत ने उन्हें सरकार बनाने के लिए आमंत्रित किया है और वह २८ जुलाई को पूर्वाह्न ११ बजे मुख्यमंत्री पद की शपथ लेंगे। बोम्मई ने कहा, ‘मैंने राज्यपाल को विधायक दल के नेता के रूप में अपने चुनाव के बारे में सूचित कर दिया है। उन्होंने मुझे सरकार बनाने के लिए आमंत्रित किया है। हमने चर्चा की है और फैसला किया है कि मैं कल पूर्वाह्न ११ बजे शपथ लूंगा।’ राज्यपाल कार्यालय के अनुसार शपथ ग्रहण समारोह राजभवन के ग्लास हाउस में होगा। बोम्मई ने यह भी कहा कि वह बुधवार को अकेले शपथ लेंगे।
बीजेपी विधायक दल के नेता के रूप में चुने जाने के तुरंत बाद बोम्मई कार्यवाहक मुख्यमंत्री बी एस येदियुरप्पा के साथ सरकार बनाने का दावा पेश करने के लिए राजभवन गए।कर्नाटक के नए मुख्यमंत्री के तौर पर बोम्मई के नाम का प्रस्ताव बीएस येदियुरप्पा ने ही रखा था और बीजेपी विधायकों ने इस पर सहमति जताई। २८ जनवरी, १९६० को जन्मे बोम्मई ने येदियुरपा सरकार में गृह, कानून और संसदीय मामलों का विभाग संभाला। उन्होंने जल संसाधन और सहकारिता मंत्री के रूप में भी काम किया है।
कहा जाता है कि येदियुरप्पा के चले जाने और केजेपी को लॉन्च करने के बाद बोम्मई के पार्टी के साथ बने रहने के फैसले और बीजेपी में येदियुरप्पा की वापसी के बाद उनका विश्वास हासिल करने की उनकी क्षमता ने ही उनके मुख्यमंत्री बनने में अहम भूमिका अदा की है। कर्नाटक के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री और जनता दल नेता एस.आर. बोम्मई के बेटे बसवराज २००८ में जनता परिवार से बीजेपी में शामिल हुए थे।
मैकेनिकल इंजीनियरिंग में स्नातक और पेशे से कृषक और उद्योगपति बोम्मई ने जनता परिवार के साथ अपने राजनीतिक जीवन की शुरुआत की। वह १९९८ और २००४ में धारवाड़ स्थानीय प्राधिकरण के निर्वाचन क्षेत्र से कर्नाटक विधान परिषद के सदस्य चुने गए थे। फरवरी २००८ में बीजेपी में शामिल होने के बाद जब येदियुरप्पा मुख्यमंत्री बने तो वे हावेरी जिले के शिगगांव निर्वाचन क्षेत्र से विधानसभा के लिए चुने गए।
नया नेता चुनने के लिए विधायक दल की बैठक शहर के एक होटल में हुई और इस दौरान भाजपा संसदीय बोर्ड की तरफ से नियुक्त केंद्रीय पर्यवेक्षक के तौर पर केंद्रीय मंत्री धर्मेंद्र प्रधान व जी किशन रेड्डी भी मौजूद थे। बीजेपी के राष्ट्रीय महासचिव और कर्नाटक प्रभारी अरूण सिंह, प्रदेश भाजपा अध्यक्ष नलिन कुमार कतील और राष्ट्रीय महासचिव सी टी रवि समेत कई अन्य नेता भी इस दौरान मौजूद थे। अपनी ‘बेदाग और गैर-विवादास्पद’ छवि के लिये चर्चित बोम्मई को येदियुरप्पा का करीबी माना जाता है।
