पूज्य स्वामी चिदानन्द सरस्वती जी महाराज ने कहा कि आज का दिन विश्व पर्यावरण स्वास्थ्य दिवस के साथ अन्य महत्वपूर्ण विषयों के प्रति जनसमुदाय को जाग्रत करने के लिये समर्पित है। हमें अपने पर्यावरण को स्वस्थ्य रखने के लिये जीवनदायिनी नदियों को जीवंत बनाये रखना होगा और इस हेतु पूरे विश्व से परमाणु हथियारों का निश्चित रूप से उन्मूलन करना आवश्यक है। लगातार बढ़ रहे जनसंख्या दबाव को कम करने के लिये जन्म नियंत्रण संसाधनों के प्रति विशेषकर युवाओं को जागरूक करना भी नितांत आवश्यक है तथा आज का दिन बेटियों के लिये समर्पित है। लिंगानुपात के अंतर को कम करने और नारी शक्ति का सम्मान और गरिमा को बनाये रखने के लिये हम सभी को आगे आना होगा।
पूज्य स्वामी जी ने आज विश्व नदी दिवस के अवसर पर माँ गंगा के पावन तट से आह्वान किया कि नदियाँ धरती की जलवाहिकायें हैं। जिस प्रकार मानव शरीर रूधिर वाहिकाओं के बिना जिन्दा नहीं रह सकता उसी प्रकार जल वाहिकाओं के बिना धरती पर जीवन की कल्पना नहीं की जा सकती। भारत सहित विश्व की अनेक संस्कृतियों की जननी हमारी नदियां ही हैं परन्तु वर्तमान समय में वैश्विक स्तर पर कई नदियां अत्यधिक प्रदूषित हो चुकी हैं और कुछ तो लुप्त होने की कगार पर हैं। ऐसे में नदियों का सरंक्षण करना हम सब का परम कर्तव्य है और इसके लिये हम सभी को मिलकर सिंगल यूज प्लास्टिक का उपयोग बंद करना होगा तभी नदियाँ अपने वास्तविक स्वरूप में लौट सकती हैं।
आज विश्व बेटी दिवस के अवसर पर पूज्य स्वामी जी ने कहा कि बेटियों को सुरक्षा प्रदान करने के लिये युवाओं को संवेदनशील बनाना जरूरी है। युवाओं को यौन-प्रजनन स्वास्थ्य, शिक्षा, संस्कार और सुविधाओं के साथ-साथ लिंग इक्विटी के लिये भी मानसिक रूप से तैयार करना आवश्यक है। इसके लिये सरकारी प्रयासों के साथ ही जनसमुदाय की मानसिकता को बदलने के लिये जागरूकता कार्यक्रमों पर ध्यान केंद्रित करना होगा क्योंकि यह विषय अत्यधिक गहराई से हमारे विचारों में है और इतना जटिल है कि मात्र सूचनाएँ देने से समाज की सोच और व्यवहार को बदला नहीं जा सकता।
पूज्य स्वामी जी ने बढ़ती जनसंख्या के विषय में भी चिंता व्यक्त करते हुये कहा कि वर्तमान समय में युवाओं को उनके पाठ्यक्रम में ही यौन एवं प्रजनन स्वास्थ्य तथा गर्भनिरोधक के विषय में शिक्षित करना जरूरी है। ग्लोबल इंटरफेथ वाश एलायंस, यूएनएफपीए के साथ मिलकर ऋषिकेश के समुदायों में जीवन कौशल के साथ यौन एवं प्रजनन स्वास्थ्य के विषय में भी युवाओं को जागरूक कर रहा है।
